Located at the historic High House off Decatur Square, the law firm of Lamar K. Mitchell, LLC provides general litigation services, focusing on the representation of individuals in commercial disputes, business and property torts, and disability claims governed by ERISA. 

EXPERIENCE.    In addition to his role as managing member of the law firm of Lamar K. Mitchell, LLC, Lamar serves as legal counsel to several businesses, including an Atlanta-based organic waste management company and an Athens-based music production company. Previously, Lamar worked at a large defense firm based in Savannah and, more recently, with a boutique plaintiff's firm in Midtown, where he litigated shareholder oppression cases, allegations of business interference, and trade secret misappropriation claims. Lamar has also volunteered his services pro bono at Georgia Lawyers for the Arts and the Fulton County Conflict Defenders' Office.

BIOGRAPHY.    Before graduating from Emory Law School, where he was active in Moot Court Special Teams, Lamar attended Harvard University Divinity School and Oxford University in Oxford, England, where he earned a Master of Philosophy degree. At Oxford, Lamar was President of the Worcester College Middle Common Room and a member of the Oxford Union. Prior to graduate school, Lamar attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where he earned a double major in Philosophy and Religion, magna cum laude, with honors

Today, Lamar lives with his wife, Leslie, and three dogs, Tate, Bella, and Sam, in Oakhurst. Lamar and Leslie personally renovated their home, a 1920's bungalow, and were married in their backyard garden in 2007. Lamar enjoys writing and is a published poet, winner of the 2001 Oxford Starkie Prize for Poetry; he also enjoys painting, and has exhibited his artwork, acrylic murals, both in Athens and Atlanta.
